Job Description

OVERVIEW

Fractured Atlas is seeking a full-time Senior Software Engineer (Ruby). Fractured Atlas is a national nonprofit art service organization with a membership of over 75,000. Our mission is to make the journey from inspiration to living practice more accessible and equitable for artists and creatives. We are dedicated to helping individual artists and arts organizations at every level of the cultural ecosystem, in every creative medium by providing fundraising tools, educational resources, and personalized support.

The successful candidate will be someone committed to writing clear, reliable, and maintainable code on a mission-driven, cross-functional team. We are seeking someone with significant full-stack experience with Ruby on Rails, who values Rails conventions and object-oriented design, with a track record of delivering features that require collaborating with product to resolve ambiguity and prioritize the highest impact work. The right candidate will be comfortable with a flat team structure and excited to collaboratively design and champion best practices to improve our applications and processes. Our lean, remote team collaborates across all departments to scope projects that ship quickly and have an immediate impact on the arts field. In addition to having high standards for the features we ship, our team has high expectations of respect and care for each other, making sure we maintain a healthy work life balance in Fractured Atlas’s “work hard, live well” environment.

Our organizational culture embraces people who:

  • Are curious and excited by opportunities to better our services, our systems, and ourselves.
  • Seek out challenging problems and are comfortable with high-risk, high-impact efforts.
  • Are agile, creative problem solvers with a focus on concrete results.
  • Invest their time in quality work and giving others their respect and support.

At Fractured Atlas we adhere to strong anti-oppression and anti-racism principles in all areas of our internal and external work. This commitment is grounded in our belief that change is possible, and that our work and that of the artistic community as a whole will grow stronger as oppression is eliminated. • Maintain and expand internal APIs and integrations with Stripe and other third-party software platforms.
  • Implement full-stack features, utilizing javascript and CSS as needed.
  • Write unit and feature tests with RSpec and Capybara to ensure functionality works as intended.
